Another year of my pastoral work comes to an end and only one year in a new place. I will cherish only good memories of this year and of this new budding Parish. A new Parish but veteran parishioners, indeed! When we have good, active and concerned Catholics in a parish, the work and the worries of the Parish Priest are all met and satisfied. Even though I was not given as Assistant I am simply amazed the way things worked out so successfully. That’s all because the members of the Parish are very supportive fervent Catholics who take it as their own responsibility to keep the Parish going and growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The Parish Pastoral Council led by a committed moderator with her active Executive Committee plans and runs the execution of the pastoral plan effectively under the leadership of the Parish Priest with all the faithful members of the Parish Pastoral Council. Every member carries out with diligence every duty assigned to him\/her. The Ex-Co. lead by example for the parishioners to emulate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then we have the finance body, the Cofre da Capela de Aquem with five members. We were all determined to do the best we could and I had their full support and cooperation. All of us were new to the Church, yet we did all we could to meet the urgent needs of the Church building, the Cemetery, the properties and the administration. As this was our first year, some plans remained in the pipeline and the members are determined to carry them out with the new Parish Priest and I am confident they will do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Catechetical Unit of the Parish is a great support for the Pastor and St. Sebastian Catechetical Unit has been very strong in catechesis and Church activities. The Youth Group has to have more boys to lead. The Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is rendering active service to the poor, yet the Archbishop wants them and the Parish Priest to promote the Parish Good Samaritan Fund and the Diocesan Good Samaritan Fund. Then the Legion of Mary is a powerful team of ladies, powerful not only in praying but bearing responsibility for the up-keep of the altar and the interior of the Church. The Divine Mercy Group is also a leading group in the life of this Church. We had a smart group of Altar Servers, some of whom may not continue this year. The St. Anthony Chapel Committee was very helpful in the development of the Church infrastructure. I am grateful to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
