A step towards God’s Will

Your faith in God can make any sickness disappear’.

My name is Pearson Fernandes aged 24 and just like every person suffering from Covid-19, I was one of them. Covid-19 wasn’t just a sickness for the world but It was a battle against death or you could say survival.

I was tested positive in April.

Before Being tested I experienced symptoms such as body fatigue and headaches.

After being tested positive I had to be quarantined in the hospital. But due to limited symptoms, I was told to be quarantined at home. The first day I spent in the hospital and some more symptoms arose. I got fever and it followed with vomiting. So I had to be under observation for a while and then I was prescribed certain medication and I was told to be quarantined and to visit the hospital the next day again.

The next day when I visited the hospital there was this chaos and there were crowds of hundreds who were tested positive. We were told to stand in a queue and it went for 6 hours straight. All I could see is, people were physically and mentally exhausted. The pain and the symptoms took a toll on everyone.

On a brink of a second, I saw around 3-4 people collapse inside the casualty and all that was moved in and out were bodies of people.

They say that when a tsunami wave hits a shore it washes away everything in its path.

Covid -19 wasn’t something different to me at that point. People passed away in seconds and the ones watching could just stand and pray to God.

I along with some peers faced some similar pains in the body and at that moment One young lad aged 21 just lost his consciousness and he was admitted immediately but unfortunately, he didn’t see it through.

The death was again a passing phase as death just seemed like a number and it wasn’t stopping.

Amongst all this, All I did was pray and pray wanting God to take this disease away.

The second day ended in this chaotic way. I had calls coming in about my whereabouts and I couldn’t answer any.
Prayers reached out for me and I faced the symptoms only with the strength of God.

After 6 days of treatment and quarantine, my symptoms slowly reduced and I my immunity got stronger.

I decided to volunteer for those who needed medication and other services right after my condition improves.

Seeing hundreds outside in the queue I just wanted to somehow tell about the medication required for Asymptomatic patients. I somehow managed to get in touch with a doctor and I helped him with the patients on call.

Covid 19 just didn’t make me sick but it made me a stronger person. Prevention was the answer But to the ones tested positive they needed help too, is and the state was already facing a shortage of staff. So for those who recovered from Covid-19, I formed a group and we managed to give all that the patients needed.

Standing in the crowd of more than 100 patients and providing them with basic medical attention took a lot of mental strength but the people with me together continuously worked hard and kept their fears behind and helped a number of people.

All of this was started because when I recovered I got the message from God saying that ‘ You have been saved To help the people survive’.

The fight isn’t over but neither will my faith in God ever end.
