In late 2019, the outbreak of a respiratory disease caused by a human coronavirus (SARS CoV-2) was discovered in Wuhan, China. The infection spread globally and in March 2020 was recognized as a pandemic by World Health Organization (WHO) and the disease was given the name COVID-19.  Since the onset, researchers and health professionals have been working on providing information on the varying clinical course of this disease.

COVID-19 primarily affects the lungs with presentation of ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and subsequent fibrosis. It appears to have a systemic inflammatory response with multiple organ involvement. Presentation of those affected by the virus varies greatly from asymptomatic to severe complications requiring mechanical ventilation support. Those who are physically fit and leading a healthy lifestyle are comparatively less affected than those who have pre-existing conditions. Read more

“Wow!” Alpa exclaimed for the nth time as she gaped at the canvas being painted in vivid colours by the celebrity artist, Emilia.

Alpa had always wanted to paint. She had spent innumerable evenings drawing and colouring her art book as a child. However, as she grew up, her parents decided that she must study engineering as it is tough to make a living as an artist. Alpa was good in studies, especially Maths and Physics, but her real interest lay in painting. Psalms are songs, but a different kind of songs. Some of the Psalms praise God for His faithfulness and power, some songs are of God’s historical acts on behalf of the people of God, some give us hope and encouragement in the love God has for His people, and some lament over a certain tragedy or discomfort they are experiencing. Psalm 42 is a psalm of lament, focusing more on the “thirsting or yearning or longing of the Psalmist”. Laments are heart-felt cries to God while in pain or suffering, sometimes in the midst of the times when we feel God is absent. It is said that Pss 42 and 43 make one song.
