Does it look like that we are heading for a third world war? The reason that could lead to a global conflict is because of the availability of the nuclear weapon. And nuclear weapons as we know are catastrophic.
Human history has been full of battles and wars, some big and some small. Advanced technologies, massive troupes and more intensive strategies will also increase the intensity of the coming war. The talks about world war III to happen started during the cold war period between US and Russia, soon after the Second World War.
War along with it brings a lot of destruction of human lives, economic losses, displacement of the people and environment. It leaves widespread long term effects. The widespread trauma and suffering of the civilian population is another legacy of these conflicts. Along with these results, war causes mass destruction of cities, has a long lasting effect on the country’s economy and disturbs the social order. And there are the indirect consequences which are often overlooked. Nuclear weapons used during these conflicts have different effects than the conventional weapons. There is a vast amount of explosive energy it releases such as the high temperature and radiations. They have a long term effect on the human health which persists for years and years.
World War I was the first big war of the 20th Century. It started with assassination and involved more countries than any war before it. About 9 million soldiers and 6 million civilians lost their lives in this war. Millions of people were killed, sections of land were destroyed, and there was destruction all over, economically, politically as well as socially. Then started the World War II, for which the seed was sown already in the 1st world war. Again there was destruction. Millions of people were killed and injured, handicapped in this battle. The atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by US, resulted in casualties and destroyed the whole city.
The Second World War resulted in the division of the world into the two blocks, capitalist and communist. The capitalist block was led by USA whereas the communist block was led by Russia. This started the cold war between Russia and USA.
Now coming to the present, the growing tension between Iran and US along with Russia have made the prediction of World War III. The nuclear capabilities are a sign of another catastrophic battle; between the allies of the countries. If there is the 3rd World war, it will again cause, death of millions, the earth will be destroyed and it will take decades to recover again.
World war I as we know started with the assassination. Is it a sign that assassination of General Oasem Soleimani, by US will lead to the beginning of another global conflict?
