“Father into Thy hands I commend My Spirit!”
Good Friday, commemorating Jesus’ crucifixion, is a day of both profound suffering and enduring hope, reminding Christians of Jesus’ sacrifice and the promise of Redemption and Resurrection.
The ‘Good’ in suffering, despite the name, ‘Good Friday,’ is not about celebrating the suffering itself, but about recognizing the good that comes from it: the promise of salvation and the hope of eternal life through Jesus’ sacrifice.
When confronted with the reality of trials and tribulations, pain and suffering in our lives, we need to look up at the cross and understand that there’s hope in the face of darkness. Jesus’ death on the cross is a symbol of Hope and Victory over Death and Sin.
The crucifixion of Jesus is a powerful display of God’s love for humanity, as He sent His only son to die for the sins of the world. This is the time for us to reflect on our own lives, our sins and the need for God’s grace and forgiveness.
Suffering, even in its most difficult forms, can be a source of transformation and can lead us to a deeper understanding of God’s love and grace.
Good Friday, also reminds us that because He lives _ becauseJesus died on the cross but rose again on the third day _ we live.
Jesus’ death resulted in new life, new hope and new possibilities for all who put their faith in Him. That’s what is so good about Good Friday!
Psalm 30:4 reminds us, “Weeping may endure for a night, but Joy comes in the morning.”
Hope in God is how love overcomes fear, how light overcomes the darkness and how life overcomes death. God’s unconditional love and power can transform even the most devastating circumstances, if we turn to God and confidently replace fear with hope and faith.
As we continue to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice, may we find strength in His love and redemption. On this solemn day, may the cross be a symbol of hope, forgiveness and salvation.
“In the difficulty of transition, God is our constant. In the frailness of old age, God is our strength. In the darkness of depression, God is our hope. God is not waiting for us on the other side of suffering; He meets us in our suffering.”
God is with us in our suffering, He transforms us through our suffering, and one day He will put an end to our suffering. Our weakness is a showcase for the glory of God’s strength!
Christ said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”(2 Cor 12:9)
If Easter is the celebration of Christ’s resurrection from the tomb, Good Friday is the day in which the church commemorates everything from His condemnation to His passion.
Let’s remind ourselves that Jesus died on our behalf, remember His profound suffering in our place and express our gratitude to Him for His incredible sacrifice on Good Friday.
Death could not hold Him. Jesus rose from the dead, the glorious truth of our Easter celebration.
Good Friday is both a day of sadness and a day of hope because our sin made it necessary for Jesus to suffer and die, but through His death, Jesus redeemed the world.
Suffering is an inevitable part of our life, but we have the hope of the Gospel, which enables us to endure the hardships with a purpose and trust that God is working all things together for our good.
