Archdiocesan Catechetical Day 2026

The Archdiocesan Catechetical Day 2026 was celebrated at Sts. Cosme and Damian Church, Bogmalo, on 31st January and 1st February 2026, bringing together 205 lay catechists from across the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman for two days of faith, fellowship, and gratitude.

A unique aspect of this celebration was the overnight stay with parish families, where 107 families warmly welcomed the catechists into their homes. The heartfelt hospitality, cheerful spirit, and generous preparations of the parishioners made the catechists feel truly at home.

The programme began with registration, where participants received a token of love, followed by a prayer service, action songs, and an ice-breaker session. In the evening, a somudai gathering was held, during which catechists were presented with a seashell necklace, symbolising unity and belonging. Prayer and fellowship marked the rest of the evening in the host families’ homes. The second day commenced with Praise and Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, followed by the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Rev. Fr. SimiĆ£o. The catechetical programme that followed honoured the dedicated service of catechists: 50 catechists were felicitated for over 15 years of service, 3 catechists for more than 50 years, and 10 catechists for over 40 years of commitment to Sunday catechesis. Cultural and spiritual performances such as mando, biblical enactments, skits, and spiritual dances enriched the celebration. Catechists also shared their personal experiences of service and the overnight stay.

The programme was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Kenneth Teles, Rev. Fr. Xavier Braganza, Rev. Fr. Prinson Oliveira, and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Teo Fernandes. Special appreciation is extended to Rev. Fr. Teo Fernandes and the 106 volunteers whose tireless efforts ensured the success of the event.

The Archdiocesan Catechetical Day 2026 was a meaningful celebration of faith, service, and community, leaving all participants with joyful and lasting memories.
