The President, Rev. Fr. Simpliciano Nazareth Fernandes, addressed the members and encouraged everyone to pray regularly, especially during the month of May, which is dedicated to the Rosary. He said that whenever possible, families should gather for Rosary near a cross, chapel, or in their homes, as it is a very good spiritual practice.
He reminded the members that Our Lady appeared to the three children of Fátima — Jacinta Marto, Francisco Marto, and Lúcia dos Santos – in 1917 while they were praying. He also spoke about the need for peace in the world and referred to the wars and conflicts taking place in many countries today. He said that if people truly desire peace, they must pray sincerely and practise penance. He expressed concern that many youth today are more attracted to materialistic things and often neglect prayer and sacrifice, which can lead them away from good values and spiritual growth.
He further reflected on the Mystery of Redemption and reminded the members about God’s love and sacrifice for humanity.
The Parish Priest reminded the members about the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation was to be held on 12th May at 4:00 p.m. On this day God the Holy Spirit descends not only on the candidates but also on their families and upon all of us, the Church of Aquem, he stated. He requested the members to actively participate in the celebration and also asked them to encourage the members of all SCCs to attend prayerfully and wholeheartedly. He further urged everyone to pray for the children receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and for their families.
We then discussed the Marian Evening to be held on 13th May. The programme would begin with Holy Mass at 5:30 p.m., followed by a small procession in honour of Mother Mary and the singing of Marian hymns by the church choir.
