I recollect what a world-famous designer and author suffering from cancer, wrote before her death:” This house, this car, this plane, this furniture, this Bank, this excessive fame and glory, none of these are useful to me -none of this will relax me as there is nothing real, except death. At the end of the day, the most important thing is health.”There is nothing but the truth in these words. We see so many people suffering from fearful diseases day in and day out. We hear people complaining of the pains and aches they go through in their lives, maybe in their homes or in hospitals. In such situations, they are all the time focussed and preoccupied with their health issues not forgetting the financial burdens in settling the medical bills.
Imagine the time when someone inquires about our health, instead of being thankful and praising God, we groan even at the slightest pin prick! I firmly believe that in life there are two wolves inside us which are always at loggerheads with each other. One is the good wolf which represents good things such as kindness, bravery, love, joy, peace, hope, forgiveness, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith whose results are health and wholeness despite many challenges in our lives. The other is the bad wolf which represents things like fear, hatred, anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, unforgiveness, lies, false pride, and ego and its results are sickness, diseases, aches, and pains. It is for each one of us to choose which wolf to feed because surely the one you feed more, naturally grows stronger. It’s a battle between the path we choose for ourselves and the one that is chosen for us. The battles that one fights or faces are more related to the physical health issues that ultimately lead to lakhs of rupees going down the drain in clearing the medical bills. These issues crop up due to the mental and emotional stress bottled up within us. Let us be happy for having a plate to eat and a place to sleep and be thankful to God but most of all be happy with how little or how much we have while being healthy at all times.
Until we meet again,
