Keeping Christ at the Heart of Christmas

Christmas is one of the most joyful times of the year: we decorate our homes, exchange gifts, enjoy delicious food, and spend time with family and friends. But in the middle of all the celebration, it is important to pause and remember why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

Christmasis about the birth ofJesus Christ, the Son of God, who came into the world to bring us hope, peace and salvation. When Jesus is at the center of Christmas, everything else findsitstruemeaning. The lightswe hang remind us that Jesus is the Light of the World. The gifts we give help us remember the greatest gift God gave us, His only Son. The joy we feel reflects the joy the shepherdsfeltwhen they heard the good news ofJesus’ birth. And the star on top ofourtree reminds us ofthe starthatguidedthewisementothenewbornKing.

I watched the animated movie Klausthe other day, and its message stayed with me. The story showed how even one small act of kindness can spark another and slowly transform an entire community. It reminded me that Christmas is not only about receiving, but about giving from the heart. As I watched, I felt strongly that this is exactly what Jesus teaches us: to spread love, forgiveness and generosity. The movie made me reflect on how my own simple actions, eveniftheyseemsmall, canbringlightintosomeone’slife.

Celebrating Christmas with Jesus at the center also means sharing His love with those around us. It may be through a kind word, a small act of service, or a simple prayer for someone in need. Jesus came to show us how to love, forgive, and care for one another. When we share His love, we keep His presence alive in our hearts and in our communities.

This Christmas, let us not get lost in the hoo-ha of shopping, planning and rushing. Instead, let us take time to pray, reflect, and thank God for His blessings. Let us read the Christmas story, spend quiet moments with the Lord and teach our children the true meaning of this holy season. May our celebrations be filled not just with decorations and sweets, but with faith, gratitude, and the warmth of Christ’s love. When Jesus is at the center of Christmas, our hearts find peace, our homes shine brighter and our lives become a reflection of God’s goodness.

As we come together this season, may the joy of Christ be born anew in our hearts. May His love guide us, His peace strengthen us and His light lead us
into the coming year.

Wishing everyone a blessed and Christ-centered Christmas!
