My long – awaited pilgrimage to Christ the King Church in Vilakkannur, Kerala, finally became are a lit y—a journey
inspired by the miraculous appearance of the Holy Face of Jesus in the Eucharist, a phenomenon recognized by the Vatican. Our travel began with a train ride from Madgaon Junction to Kannur, followed by a 40-kilometre drive through winding roads to Vilakkannur.
Though the journey was lengthy, my wife and I were filled with anticipation and a deep reverence for what awaited us. Stepping into the church for the first time, my heart trembled with awe. As I gazed upon the Eucharist, the luminous face of Christ was clearly visible, radiating peace and love. Having previously studied the documented Eucharistic miracles compiled by St. Carlo Acutis while preparing for the International Exhibition, I was familiar with such accounts. Yet, this was different—it was no longer something I had only read about; I was beholding it with my own eyes.
The moment overwhelmed me with emotion, and tears flowed freely. I realized how profoundly different it is to read about a miracle and to encounter it in person. My wife and I knelt before the Blessed Sacrament, offering prayers for deeper faith and the grace to always recognize Christ’s True Presence in the Eucharist.
We remained for the Holy Mass, celebrated in Malayalam within the SyroMalabar Catholic tradition—different from what we were accustomed to. Yet, language and ritual no longer mattered. The gaze upon the Eucharistic Face of Jesus drew us into silence and intimate communion with Him. For more than two and a half hours, we simply rested in His presence.
This encounter has left an indelible mark on my spiritual life. I return home with a heart filled with gratitude, carrying within me the peace and grace of the
Sacred moment at Vilakkannur—a faith instilling moment of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
