Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

Saint John the Baptist is the Patron Saint of: Baptism

June 24th is the celebration of the Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist.

John the Baptist was born to Zachariah and Elizabeth, through the intercession of God, who was otherwise too old to bear children. According to the Scriptures, the Angel Gabriel visited Elizabeth and Zachariah to tell them they would have a son and that they should name him John. Zachariah doubted this, thus was rendered mute until the time his son was born and named John, in fulfilment of God’s plan. Read more

Baby Bottle Syndrome

Nursing caries, or tooth decay, can be caused when your child sleeps with a bottle. This condition is also called baby bottle tooth decay. It is caused when a child goes to bed with a bottle filled with milk or juice, anything except water.

Nursing bottle caries usually affects children between the ages of 1 and 2. If your infant falls asleep while breast feeding, he is also at risk.

Bottle tooth decay develops when baby teeth come into frequent contact with too much sugar. Bacteria in the mouth feed on the sugar, multiply, and produce acid as a waste product. The acid attacks the teeth and tooth enamel, resulting in tooth decay.

Shania Miranda

Shania Miranda, a 9-year-old studying at Bloomz International School, has marked her niche in academics and sports alike and has bagged several awards for the same. She has published her first book, Shania’s Adventures, and received a Silver Star Medallion award for being the best-selling young author at the state level by NYAF (National Young Author’s Fair). She secured third place in the NELTAS International Olympiad in the Science Grand Finale and won the Achiever’s Medal in Maths, science, English, and spelling bee competitions. In sports, she has excelled in various events with golds and has bagged the all-rounder Best Athlete Trophy by BIS. She also won at the BPS club-level chess tournament and was felicitated by BPS Sports Club at the 84th Annual Club Meet for her state-level achievements in April 2024. She has also bagged gold in the freestyle swimming medley relay at the 34th All Goa Swimming Sub-Junior and Junior Level Aquatic Championship organized by SAG (Swimming Association of Goa). Congratulations to Shania on all her achievements and wishing her more power and strength to conquer her dreams.
