Rotary Rain Run

This run is organized every year since 2016 by the Rotary Club of Porvorim. It is a major fund raising event to support the Flagship Community Service Activity of the Rotary Club of Porvorim – “The Prakash Cancer Aid Project” and the entire fund goes to this project.
The Prakash Cancer Aid Project is directed towards prevention and treatment of cancer in women. The three major cancers targeted are breast cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian tumors.

Rotary Rain Run 2017, like every year, began at the Sports Authority of Goa track at Bambolim and travelled across the University Road to Miramar circle. An out and back route. The run had three distance categories — 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. Anushka Silva Lobo, Our Parishioner, participated in the 10km category and covered the distance in an award winning time of 58 minutes. Such fast times are attained usually by runners who practice very regularly and rigorously. Anushka attained this feat despite being busy in her studies as a student of second year MBBS at the Goa Medical College, Bambolim.
Anushka has always distinguished herself as a brilliant student. Running and fitness is what she has turned her attention to with this prize winning run.
Let us wish her all the very best in the years to come — in both the fields she excels in — academics and running.
