Ascension of Our Lord

In Christian theology, the Death, Resurrection and Exaltation of Jesus are the most important events, and a foundation of the Christian faith. Easter is the most important festival in the Christian Calendar. It celebrates God raising His Son, Jesus, from the dead, which for Christians symbolizes Jesus’ destruction of the power of sin and the possibility of an after life in Heaven.

Christians remember the events of the last week of Jesus’ life (before the crucifixion) during the Holy Week. Holy Week ends with Easter Sunday which is the day when Christians celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.

St. Philip Neri

St. Philip Neri was a Christian missionary and founder of the Congregation of the Oratory, a community of Catholic priests and lay brothers. He was born in Florence on July 21, 1515 as one of four children to Francesco Neri.

From a very young age, Philip was known for being cheerful and obedient. He was affectionately referred to as “good little Phil.” He received his early teachings from friars at the Dominican monastery in Florence, San Marco.

At the age of 18, Philip went off to live with a wealthy family member in San Germano. He was sent there to assist in – and possibly inherit – the family business. However, soon after his arrival, Philip experienced a mystical vision, which he eventually spoke of as his Christian conversion. This event was an encounter with the Lord and it dramatically changed his life.

Pormoll Editorial – April 2022

It’s been two long years of fear and anxiety amongst the people and the mandatory following of pandemic protocols and SOPs. It appears that thankfully we are now returning to complete normalcy. Carnival, Shigmo and the recent conduct of elections have all passed off with a minimum of fuss and hassles. As a result, the Government has already endorsed the expert Committee recommendations and allowed the opening of cinema halls, gyms, casinos and restaurants at full capacity, after the last month’s decision to open up the Schools and Colleges . However, we have been rightly advised to follow appropriate behaviour which basically means physical distancing and use of masks. Read more

Divine Mercy

Over the years, the lives of innumerable people have changed through praying a simple prayer that our Lord gave to St. Faustina in the 1930s. Maria Faustina Kowalska, was a Young nun in a convent of the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Poland, during that time.

In the pages of her diary, we find many spiritual gems of extraordinary revelations she had received from our Lord Jesus Like this one which compels us to trust in Jesus’ endless Mercy

I remind you, My daughter, that as often as you hear the clock strike the third hour, immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it; invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners, for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul. In this hour you can obtain everything for yourself and for others for the asking; it was the hour of grace for the whole world – mercy triumphed over justice” (Diary, 1572) Read more

  3. The loss of Jesus at the Temple in Jerusalem.
  4. The meeting of Jesus and Mary on the way to Calvary.
  5. The Crucifixion of Jesus
  6. Taking down of the Body of Jesus from the Cross and placing in the arms of Mary.
