CHILDREN’S DAY

Stacia Tauscher once said “we worry about what our child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that they are someone today”. Children’s day! A day dedicated to all the lovely children across the country. Also referred to as ‘Bal Diwas’ and is celebrated on the 14th of November in honour of the birth anniversary of our country’s first Prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as he had great love and affection towards children.

A child’s innocent look and smile makes us happy. Their lovely charming faces act like a soothing balm for us. Childhood is the most amazing phase in a person’s life, the reason being, children have nothing to care or worry about.  Throughout our lives we cherish our childhood moments and wish to be a child again. Albeit the sad part is as we grow, our childhood and innocence disappears. While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.

Children are considered as the building blocks of our nation. They are responsible citizens of tomorrow and the development of our country lies in their hand. It is therefore imperative to ensure the right upbringing and development of a child.

A child should be taught that it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat. Learn to gracefully loose and enjoy winning when they do well, and to have faith in his or her own ideas and abilities. At times we tend to suppress their talents because of our wants, desires and societal pressures. Children must be taught to be reason oriented and not result oriented.

Time is the most precious thing a parent can give to their child. Children are our legacies. Let us pay attention to every child as each child is special in his or her own ways. Every word spoken can have an impact on them. Let not our children drown in the virtual reality of the ever growing and attractive e-world. Instead let them learn to build relationships, skills, the right attitude and not be only intellectually driven but also empathetic towards the society. Let us strive for their overall emotional, mental, physical and spiritual development.  Let our children learn to pray and have faith in God, as the Lord himself says ”let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these”.
