Editorial – May 2019

After the forty days of the Lenten season, we have just celebrated EASTER, the most important feast day on the Christian calendar. Joyfully, this celebration which marks the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ, represents the triumph of good over evil, sin, death and the physical body. May the spirit of Easter continue to live in us NOT just for this season, but the days ahead as well. This is also the time of the year, when the List of transfers of Diocesan priests is announced by the Archdiocese. Fresh postings of Parish Priests, Asst. parish Priests, Chaplains etc. who have completed their respective terms, figure in the published list. Anyone connected with service, whether you are paid for it or otherwise, generally, agrees, that no one likes transfers. In my long career in the Bank, I have also witnessed this period of uneasy feeling when it was time to implement transfers. A different place of work, different people to work with, different atmosphere, a total change in set up is what constitutes a transfer, in a nutshell. It’s an unusual feeling because one is already established and settled at a certain place of work, and the transfer unsettles everything in one go. You are skeptical about what is in store for you at the new place of posting. After the forty days of the Lenten season, we have just celebrated EASTER, the most important feast day on the Christian calendar. It’s an unusual feeling because one is already established and settled at a certain place of work, and the transfer unsettles everything in one go. You are skeptical about what is in store for you at the new place of posting. This year’s transfer list of diocesan priests, includes the name of our Asst. Parish Priest, Fr. Gregorio Cruz. Four years have already flown by since Fr. Gregorio joined our Parish. His simple ways, simplicity and down to earth qualities have endeared him to every parishioner, young or old. His lively and enlightening Sermons at Mass will be missed by all. He played an active role in the printing / releasing of our magazine, PORMOLL. Although, it is sad he has to leave us, we are also happy for him as Fr. Greg is now promoted and posted as the chaplain of Our Lady of Piety Chapel, Baga-Calangute. Whilst thanking him for his services, we wish him ‘All the very best’ in his new posting and seek God’s choicest blessings on him in continuing to do God’s beautiful work in the vineyard of our Lord. “BESANV TUJER PODDOM RE, SORGINCHEA DEVA BAPACHEM”.Until we meet again.
