From the Teacher’s Heart

Teachers of St. Sebastian English Primary School, Aquem

I am filled with gratitude to the Almighty for the four decades and more in the teaching profession which to me was a vocation. A teacher is not a teacher by choice but a call to serve and nurture the young minds. There could be no other profession that can surpass the role of a teacher; for a teacher is an embodiment of values, knowledge, talents and a repository of love and compassion. No two days at the school are similar as each is tailored to suit the anxious tender minds of the students at different stages.
This is what makes the life of a teacher challenging and yet exciting and wanting to do more as there is no limit as to how much!
As l recall my life at school, it has been nothing short of a rewarding career, an eventful journey filled with sweet memories.

There could be no better feelings for me than to be a Teacher and a part of the nation-building process by moulding the students to be responsible citizens. Teaching is such a great profession where, if l am absent,I am genuinely missed by the students whom l am serving. It always feels good to hear students say, “Teacher We Missed You!”

Being a teacher has been a wonderful experience for me, as I love being around small children. Their innocent stories make up my day. Though they have little hands, they surely have big hearts filled with love. Teaching my students by itself has been a learning experience for me too. I really feel blessed teaching small kids.

Teaching is a noble profession. It is a vocation. The greatest compliment you get from a student is when the student approaches you after many years in a bus or in the market place and tells you something like, “Teacher you really helped me to learn.” I feel good and happy to see my students in cheerful spirits reflecting the joy of what they have learnt. I love them and feel blessed.

It was my passion since my childhood to become a teacher as I enjoyed spending time with the children listening to their stories. This bonding inspired me to become a teacher and it was no mistake as today I am filled with a great sense of fulfillment and want to give my best to the students and bring a smile on their faces.

I love being a teacher and feel deep satisfaction when I get respect from my students and society. My students inspire me and make me laugh and I couldn’t think of a better way than to spend my time with the little ones.

*Teacher*….the greatest force on planet Earth
A Teacher is always said to be a brightly lit candle who dispels darkness and becomes a radiating guiding light for the students.
I too had a teacher who was a box of treasure who added her magic in moulding my future. She will always remain the most beautiful chapter because of whom today I am a teacher.
Teachers are loving, they inspire you, they entertain you, and of course they teach you, they teach us beyond and out of the box…yes they teach us for life, and that is why a teacher’s profession is the highest of all professions and occupations. A teacher affects eternity as her influence never stops.
I am proud to be a part of a profession that doesn’t feel like a job. I am privileged to be a teacher and at the same time being responsible for a child’s future. The love and respect that students shower is something I have never dreamt of and has kept me overwhelmed always. Teaching is something I can never give up on. I feel blessed to be a teacher.

Deep down in my heart I knew that being a teacher would not be an easy task. However, I took a resolution to carry this great responsibility of moulding a child with good values, manners and above all, love.  I feel honoured today, wherein I know that I am carrying forward the legacy of my wonderful teachers – the knowledge that was imparted to me by them. I thank them for their inspiration and great support. Sometimes things do get tiring but at the end of the day when a certain task is completed along with my students the feeling of joy and happiness is priceless.  To me teaching is a vocation where I know that my preparation and confidence will ultimately lead my students to achieve their greatest dreams and help them in allaying their fears of the unknown. I commit to stand by my students whenever they need me. I thank the Lord for allowing me to step onto this beautiful path of service.
