Indulgence

We believe in GOD, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints and forgiveness of sins. This is the doctrine of the Holy Catholic Church and we all accept it as a part of our life and salvation of our soul.

The month of November is a month beginning with the 1st date as we remember all the saints, all holy people who did the will of GOD, totally sacrificed and enjoyed to do the will. They fully believed in Him and gave their 100% to our GOD, and GOD in turn rewarded them with Heaven. They live in communion with Saints.

2nd November is a day dedicated to the SOULS. It’s “ALL SOULS DAY”. All our dead people who lived but now are no more with us. We pray for them so that they may attain salvation. All the souls in Purgatory long for our prayers. During the month of November, the Catholic Church reminds us to pray for the departed.

When we visit the cemeteries not only in our Parish but also in other cemeteries around us, we are blessed and we can receive “INDULGENCE””, in doing so.

What is Indulgence? It is a part of penitential system of the universal Church that grants full or partial remission of punishment of sin.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Indulgence is described as remission before GOD for the temporal punishments due to sin whose guilt has been forgiven but the gains due to the sin have to be accomplished under certain prescribed conditions.

Indulgence is an act of giving up the way you did omission of sin. It may be gratification that you enjoyed. Indulgence is defined as remission of temporal punishment due to GOD for sin. Both the theory and in practice Indulgences were closely tied to pilgrimages, veneration of saints, and their relics and various other things one ought to do in order to attain salvation.

We have Plenary Indulgence. What is Plenary indulgence? If one reads or listens to the sacred scriptures for atleast half an hour, Adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist for atleast half an hour, the pious exercise of the Stations of the Cross, one gets Indulgence.

On 26th March 2020, if a man prays at EMPTY Saint Peters Square in Rome, Pope Francis said he will grant Plenary Indulgence to the faithful in his WRBI ET ORBI dt 25th March.

Pope Francis said on 23rd March the Plenary Indulgence and forgiveness of sins to the faithful present and those watching through Media Outlets.

Our Church grants special Indulgence to all Corona virus patients and care givers. On 20th March 2020, the Apostolic Penitentiary issued a decree granting this Indulgence.

There is a list of Indulgences one can attain and achieve. One must have read that on Holy pictures, a prayer is mentioned and beneath its written 500 days indulgence.

There are many ways one can receive Indulgence.

In the Month of November there are indulgences which are granted to us, one who visits the cemetery to pray for the dead, receive the sacrament of reconciliation and the Eucharist, recite the creed and pray for the intention of the Pope, one re- affirms fully communion with the Church. So humbly kneeling in the confessional confessing ones sins, with a contrite heart and imploring Divine Mercy, the Catholics receive heavenly blessings and many indulgences. So let us turn to the Lord for His Mercy and seek His blessings.
