Journey as a PPC member

The knock on my door came around four years back, by one of the PPC members requesting me to join the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). I politely declined the request informing that it wasn’t for me as I may not be able to carry out the responsibilities. But, the then Parish Priest Fr. Ligorinho asked me why I wasn’t interested in taking up as a member of the PPC. I was quick enough to let him know my fears.

After listening to me he replied “God is there watching and He will give you all the help you need, do it for Him and His people, and we are here to assist you.” these words helped me to take up this responsibility with faith and courage.

Since then it was no looking back, taking up every duty with God given enthusiasm and energy. We have meetings once a month, and each member of the PPC has something to offer and all have something to learn from one another.

Our Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Andrew Pereira is very inspiring and motivating and assists us in organising Church events by providing us with new ideas. Our Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Gregorio Cruz is very supportive and guides us in our tasks.

To name a few of our responsibilities, our duties may begin with a simple task of delivering ‘Pormoll’ to every household in our zones to maybe arranging readers for Sunday liturgy or coordinating with other associations to organise different events held at the Church or taking initiative in getting together all our zone members for Christmas programmes or conducting the ‘way of the Cross’ during Lent. PPC has taught me to be a leader to serve and bring together all our parishioners. These are small jobs to be done with great love and dedication.

Well, this journey has not been an easy one always, there have been times where I had to do tasks all by myself but God gives the grace and positive attitude to carry out the duties with a smile and the not so good times just pass by.

Thanks to our priests and ‘sector three zone one’ members and all the other PPC members, without whom I wouldn’t be able to carry out the duties. And not forgetting my very own family who have been encouraging and supporting me since the time I started my journey.

I know I am blessed with graces which are beyond words and His presence in my life is always felt as I carry out this journey as a PPC member.

PPC has brought me more closer to God, helping me connect with myself and also work for the betterment of the Church. I have made many friends here and I am happy doing all my jobs for the greater glory of God.

Many are called but few are chosen, if you are the chosen one please take up this responsibility and leave the rest to God as He will show you the way and provide you with the grace as you step out on this journey as a PPC member!

God Bless You!
