Nativity of Our Blessed Lady

‘The dogma of the Immaculate Conception makes Mary holy from her conception, purified from all evil and preserved from sin to become the mother of Jesus.’

Let us celebrate with joy the birth of the Virgin Mary of whom was born, our Lord Jesus Christ. 8th September, is the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated nine months after the Solemnity of her Immaculate Conception, on 8th December.

The Catholic Church remembers the Birth of Mary, our dear Mother, ordained in particular towards her mission, as Mother of the Saviour. This is the day, the Mother of our Lord was born, the Mother of the Whole Universe was born.

Mary’s birth lies at the confluence of the two Testaments – bringing to an end the stage of expectation and the promises and bringing forth, the era of grace and salvation in Jesus Christ.

Every time, we celebrate the Nativity, we are certain of increasing peace and satisfaction in the world in general and in our hearts in particular.

The Nativity of Mother Mary, is a reason to rejoice as the day is regarded to be the ‘Dawn of our Salvation.’ Pope Paul VI mentioned so in the document, Marialis Cultus, in 1974. Celebrating Mary’s birthday means honouring Jesus Christ, for without her and her desire to serve God,  things would have been different. The history of salvation would not have been the same.

Let us offer all our Joys and sorrows to our mother on her birthday, for her maternal intercession will lead us to her son, Jesus. We can be well assured that her holy intercession will take care of all our spiritual needs.

Happy Birthday dear Mother Mary!!
