St. Sebastian Sports Club

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is a proverb. It implies that without time off from daily routine, a person becomes both bored and boring. St Sebastian Sports Club aims at inculcating the importance of outdoor sports in this fast paced life of ours and making our life more interesting.

After a successful tenure of three years, a new committee was elected. A smooth transitional hand over was carried out between the old and new committees. It was also an honour to the new committee in welcoming the new parish priest as the chairperson of the club.

Everything is possible through the blessings of the Almighty. The sports club marked the beginning of their activities through the Eucharistic celebration. The main theme of the mass was “Come to me all who are burdened and I shall give you rest”. Fr. Andrew, our Parish Priest celebrated the mass with an enriching homily. He also blessed all the members of the sports club and in a special way prayed to the Almighty seeking blessing on the members and the activities scheduled by them all throughout the year.

The first activity of the sports club, a 9-a-sidefootball tournament, is under way. The main intentions of this tournament were to search for young talent in Aquem for playing the 3rd division football. We have seen a lot of enthusiasm both from the participating teams as well as the spectators. It’s really a good sign to observe youngsters come and play practically rather than virtually.

The new committee has shown enough interest in organizing various events all throughout the year and has lined up a list of events relating to sports and social gatherings for the parishioners. We look forward to the parishioners for all their support to organize these events.
