As I browsed through some of my old messages, I came across one which instantly made me spend a minute to read it all over again. The opening sentence made me sit up and accept the reality of today’s modern world.
“With what is going on in the world these days, Heaven could end up a ghost town”…. thus goes the opening sentence, I am referring to. We all know the after effects of earthquakes, cyclones, floods, tsunamis. Even if we have not seen such calamities in person, videos, movies or pictures have made us shiver in fright, at times giving us no time to react. The fury of such disasters is such that villages and towns are completely destroyed and washed away with no trace of life, whether human or otherwise. Literally, with none around, the village or town transforms into a ghost village or ghost town.
In today’s fast moving world, we have become a modernized lot. We have time for every other thing, except prayer. Even when we do pray, our prayers are getting smaller. Even a slightly longer service in church, irritates us but the time spent in entertainment or in bars or clubs has no limit. We find it very difficult to engage with God but it is so easy to worship a celebrity, be a movie star or a sports star. It appears that engaging with the political clout, is the only need of the hour, to survive.
God created us to love Him, to know Him and to honour Him. He expects us to have fellowship with Him, be in constant touch with Him through prayer. He even sent His only son to die on the Cross to save mankind because God still yearns for us and expects all of us to join Him in heaven after our earthly journey comes to an end.
We need to retrospect. Listen to God’s call and live according to His will. As I said earlier, if the present trend continues, the pathway to Heaven, after our death, may turn into a close-ended one, with no one entering Heaven… making it a ghost town….
Let’s do our best and ensure that the opposite happens i.e. Heaven gets jam packed whereas Hell turns into a ghost town.
Until we meet again.
