Family Day

Family Day gives a chance to the family members as well as the members of the families of a Parish, to celebrate the meaning of being a family and to spend quality time with each other by participating in fun activities together.
A family day provides hope in a community where families are the core and fundamental pillars of our society. For the past several years, we have been celebrating Family Day, in our St. Sebastian Church Parish, Aquem, during the Christmas Week celebrations.
Christmas 2018 was no different and our Family Day was celebrated on 29th December with a sell-out crowd who was entertained by some outstanding performances presented by the juniors and the seniors.
The evening started with a prayer service / dance presented by the Catechists to be followed by the Welcome address by our Parish Priest, Fr. Andrew Pereira. The cultural programme included Carol singing by juniors as well as seniors, solo singing, duets, trios, traditional and western dances and a skit. “VINCY – The ONE MAN BAND” provided the music for the singers and also sang some hit numbers to entertain the audience. In between the items, some games and housie was also conducted. Snacks and soft drinks were served to the crowd and the participants as well. The Asst. Parish Priest, Fr. Gregory Cruz, said a short “Prayer before meals” and then people were treated to a delicious meal and an Ice-Cream cup for dessert. The function was graced by many dignitaries, including our local MLA, Mr. Digamber Kamat, who addressed the gathering. Everyone who attended the Family Day, went home satisfied and appreciated the good work put in by the various committees formed for the Day and the cultural programme as well. Mr. Felix Dias, the Co-coordinator, proposed the Vote of Thanks, alongside the Asst. Co-coordinator Miss Janice Fernandes.
