Memories in Parish Pastoral Council

The day I received my letter signed by Fr. Ligorinho Da Costa, the then Parish Priest, seven years ago, I was happy that I would be able to serve the Parish Pastoral Council once again after a break of three years.
I was chosen to be the Moderator and thus began the journey as a Parish Pastoral Council member. It was joyous, tiring, sometimes dejecting, sometimes fulfilling, but with co-operation, we were able to do the tasks that were entrusted to us.  I had two terms of PPC Membership and in both these terms I was the Moderator. Many thanks to all the members both in the last term as well as the Present term. During this period we were able to bring life size statues of Jesus with the Cross and Mother Mary following Jesus, used during the Santos Passos as well as Good Friday.  These Statues were procured from Bicholim. The responsibility was fully given to PPC Members, who saw to it that they were delivered just a few days before Santos Passos. The Statue of Our Lady of Fatima was also installed during our tenure and this statue was sculpted in Raia. The Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes was also erected during our term. With the trust and confidence that our PPC Members had, we could achieve many things.
Small Christian Community Convention was held in 2016. The PPC members worked vigorously ensuring maximum participation was there, including the hosting of outstation delegates, dinner and programme on the second day.
Recently we had the walking Pilgrimage in March 2019. Each member saw that there was enough participation from parishioners and we were able to gather more than one hundred participants.  There was always a collaborative approach in all that we did. We were always informed about the happenings in the Diocese and our Parish.
Earlier the Moderator of each Parish used to meet at the Diocesan Pastoral Council which was headed by our Bishop, but now it is not so. Only the Deanery member meets the Diocesan Pastoral Council. Thus there is a communication gap.  The term of PPC was extended by additional one year. Hence we could serve one more year. After the Election of new council members and the process of imparting the working/functioning knowledge, the new PPC will be formally installed on 5th May 2019. very grateful to the Parish Priest Fr. Andrew, Assist. Parish Priest Fr. Gregory, and also to the members who are continuing their second term.  We are also extending a very warm welcome to the newly elected members who will continue the good work with the same zeal.  We would also like to thank Fr. Gregory, our Assistant Parish Priest who served this Parish with simplicity, dedication and commitment. As he leaves us to take another assignment entrusted to him by his superiors, may he continue to serve with same spirit. God bless you Fr. Greg. I would like to thank all the PPC members for being very supportive and getting actively involved in all the activities that were assigned to us. Recently in August 2018 we were asked to host Deanery Pastors Day It was well organized and every PPC member was involved and we were appreciated by the Dean. As the term of this PPC ends shortly, let us thank God for giving us an opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters in our Parish. In future if anyone is asked to serve. please do not hesitate to serve as it is an awesome experience. Lastly, I would like to thank all the Parishioners for giving us an opportunity to serve you.
Thank you.
