Mother’s Day Celebration

On 10th September 2023, we witnessed a large gathering of parishioners, both for the Liturgical Celebration, by the catechists and the short but entertaining programme, lovingly organized by the catechists with the students from all catechism classes.

‘A Mother’s Love is forever.’

After the children’s mass the programme which was organised in the old Chapel, witnessed a packed audience of mothers, children, grandparents and fathers too at 10:15 am. The welcome song and dance by the pre-communion children, struck a chord for every mother, present, as the children voiced their gratitude through the song and then tapped their feet to the rhythmic dance of the little ones.

Mieka, the day’s compere, then asked five mothers to ring in the sweetness of motherhood, by cutting the cake on behalf of all mothers present. The next, was a Mother’s Day song by the students of Book 6, followed by a dance by the students of Book 5. Every child performed to perfection. Spot prizes were awarded to the lucky mothers who cooperated and acted as per the quick call of the compere. A Konkani skit beautifully enacted, by the students of Book 5 was an eye opener for all. The message was loud and clear, for every household. The culmination of various musical instruments, by the students of Book 7 playing the tunes of three hymns, to the beautiful synchronicity aptly conducted by our asst. parish priest and animator, Fr. Leslie, received much applause and appreciation. The catechist s’item was indeed a show stopper, for they stole the hearts of everyone present, with their rib tickling attire and performance. Catechist and mother, Sherida De Souza spoke on behalf of all mothers, upholding the responsibilities and joys of motherhood. Fr. Andrew, our parish priest’s beautiful and motivational talk, on the role of motherhood and the many responsibilities therein, was a reckoner. The curtains for the day’s celebration was drawn to a close, with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ by catechist Saloni Fernandes. Every mother was presented a token of love and appreciation, amidst music and photographs. Everyone left the hall with a snack pack, after the day’s entertaining programme, put up by the Catechetical Association.
