My first day at School

I was filled with excitement as I wondered what my First Day at School would be – new books, new friends, new teachers, new classroom and to crown it all the new season!

Waking up earlier than otherwise I rushed with the routine to be early to school. To my surprise the school was all decked up with the words ‘WELCOME to the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL’. What Joy! It was a different air! Everyone around appeared cheerful as if longing  to be back to our second home to learn, to play, to laugh and acquire the needed values to be imparted to us by our much loved teachers. The school assembly was meaningful with the prayer for a fruitful and joyful year ahead.

The Administrator gave us some general instructions and guidelines to be followed for the smooth functioning of the school. Thereafter we moved to our respective classes to be welcomed by our class teachers and again for a few additional guidelines meant for the class. All of us had a lot to share about our holidays – the places we visited, some within the country and others abroad. There were still some who did not move out of the state but spent quality time with their grandparents enjoying the fruits of the season and visiting beaches and picnicking with family and friends. Everyone had various experiences to relate – we just felt thrilled to be back to school and before we realised it was time to go home early, being the first day!
