As the year 2024 draws towards its end, this month offers a variety of significant days that celebrate achievements, raise awareness and also honour important figures.
November 1st kicks off for us, Christians, with the All Saints Day. This year this day also coincides with Diwali, a major festival symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. This is a day commemorating all the Saints of the Church, both known and unknown, who have attained heaven, and for whom there is no specific Feast Day during the year. This is followed by All Souls Day, on 2nd November to commemorate all those who have passed away in their faith and are believed to be in purgatory because they died with the guilt of lesser sins on their souls. Our doctrine holds that the prayers of the faithful on earth, will help to cleanse these souls in order to fit them for the vision of our Heavenly Father in heaven.

Earth, Heaven and Purgatory What is the Communion of Saints? Properly speaking, it refers to three grouping of people:
1) Those on Earth—The Church Militant;
2) The saints in Heaven—The Church Triumphant;
3) The souls in Purgatory—The Church Suffering.
The unique focus is on the “communion” aspect. We are called to be in union with each and every member of Christ. There is a spiritual bond with one another insofar as we are each individually united with Christ. Let’s start with those on Earth (the Church Militant)
The 8th World Day of the Poor, will be observed on Sunday, November 17th,2024. This day was established by Pope Francis in 2017 and it is celebrated annually on the 33rd Sunday in November.
The purpose of this day is to encourage Catholics and people of goodwill to reflect on the needs of the poor, to encounter those living in poverty and to find ways to provide practical support. It aligns with the Pope’s broader focus on promoting social justice and compassionate outreach to the marginalised. The theme for this year is dedicated to prayer,” The prayer of the poor rises up to God”(Sirah 21:5)

Over the past years, the Altar Servers Association has been participating in various competitions like, kopel making, drawing competition, Christmas decoration, and many more events like this. But, in every way possible most of these contests keeps our focus on Christ.
