In collaboration with the Diocesan Catechetical Centre and the Exposition Committee, we, the St. Sebastian Catechetical Association hosted an exciting First Round of Bible Quiz Competition at the Diocesan Parish Level on 14th July 2024 during catechism class. The competition aimed to:

• Create awareness among the catechism students of the upcoming Exposition of the sacred Relic of St. Francis Xavier and the Jubilee year 2025.
• Foster an interest in reading and studying the lives of saints and spreading knowledge of the Vatican Council II.
• Inculcate in youngsters the zeal to study more about their faith and Church teachings
• Provide a platform to young competitors to witness their faith and showcase their talents.

Participants from Book 5, 6 and 7, answered a written test which included Multiple Choice Questions, Fill in the blanks and Short Answer Questions. The age criteria for the competition was: Student should be 13 years or below (Born on or after 01/06/2011).

The students who demonstrated exceptional knowledge and emerged winners were as follows: Moses Rodrigues secured First place, Crystal Miranda secured Second place and Vernon Joseph Gomes attained Third place. Prizes were awarded to these deserving students on 4th August 2024. A consolation prize was also awarded by the St. Sebastian Catechetical Association to Anrich V. D’Costa, who was very close to achieving third place. We congratulate the winners and all the students for their sincere efforts in learning the entire question bank for the Quiz Competition organised at the Parish Level.

Moses Rodrigues and Crystal Miranda who secured the first and second prize respectively were selected for the Second Round at Deanery Level to be held on 25th August 2024.

The Bible Quiz Competition was a tremendous success, promoting biblical literacy, creating awareness of the upcoming Exposition of the sacred Relic of St. Francis Xavier and the Jubilee year 2025, encouraging an interest in reading and studying the lives of saints and Vatican Council II and also fostering healthy competitive spirit among the students as they grow in faith. We look forward to organizing more events like this in the future, encouraging continued engagement with the Word of God.
