ST. SEBASTIAN SCHOOL REPORT

  •  Teachers Programme: It was conducted for the teachers of St. Sebastian School from 18th to 23rd During this programme – Science, Maths, History and English demo lessons were given by the teachers. The Administrator also highlighted the important points about framing the questions and about preparing a lesson plan. This programme was conducted to improve the teaching skills of the teachers.
  • Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration: It was celebrated on 23rd August 2017. A small statue of Lord Ganesh along with fruits, sweets and the aarthi thali was placed on a table which was beautifully decorated. Tr. Reema explained the importance of all the items, which are offered to Lord Ganesh. The Administrator advised the students to be cautious while burning fireworks. She also told them to be more environment friendly and use Ganesh idols made of clay. Sweets were given to all the students on this occasion sponsored by the parents.

  • Eid –Ul-Adha: It was celebrated on 1st September 2017 at the school after the morning assembly. Tr. Misbah told the students the story behind celebrating this festival. Hundreds of years ago, Prophet Abraham had a vision that God had asked him to sacrifice his most loved thing. Therefore he decided to sacrifice his son. But when Abraham prepared to kill his son, God intervened by sending his angel who put a sheep in his son’s place, thus this festival is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. Muslims often sacrifice a sheep, goat or camel during this Eid.
  • Celebration of Mother Teresa’s Sainthood: It was celebrated on 4th September 2017. A talk on the life of Mother Teresa was given by Tr. Valinca. A short video regarding Mother Teresa’s life was shown. Tr. Valinca evaluated the students by asking questions. The Administrator also highlighted the work Mother Teresa had done.
  • Teacher’s Day celebration: The celebration began with a prayer service followed by a programme which was put up by the students. The program included dance, songs and a talk on the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan. This was followed by the P.T.A programme which included various games for the teachers and staff and also distribution of gifts from the P.T.A. Snacks and tokens of appreciation were given to the teachers and staff by the Management also. This was followed by lunch for the teachers sponsored by a parent.
  • Mother’s Day: The birth of Our Lady was celebrated on 8th September as Mother’s Day. The celebration started with a talk given by Tr. Vallankany. She explained that Mother Mary is our Heavenly Mother and she has given mothers a special place in each one’s life. A video clipping showing the flag hoisting in Vailankani was shown. The statue of our Lady of Vailankani was beautifully decorated. The students placed flowers at the foot of our Lady’s Statue, touched it in veneration and then dispersed.
