Kantaram Lharam 3rd Edition: A Celebration of Konkani Solo and Duet Singing at St. Sebastian Parish, Aquem
The vibrant and culturally rich tradition of Konkani music is all set to take center stage once again at St. Sebastian Parish this January 2025. This annual event, which has become a staple in the local cultural calendar is set to welcome participants from all Parishes of Goa, showcasing the immense talent and passion for Konkani music in all its forms.
A Tribute to Konkani Culture and Music: Flashback
The Kantaram Lharam competition, the brainchild of Fr. Andrew Pereira (Parish Priest of St. Sebastian Church Aquem 2017-2024) and Mr. Desmond Gomes took shape in the year 2022. It was organized by PPC along with St. Sebastian Sports Club Aquem. The 1st edition was organized for Parishioners of Margao Deanery and had 50 participants. The 2nd Edition was organized by PPC and Parishioners held in January 2024 for Parishioners of South Goa Parishes and had 96 participants. This speaks volumes about the event having attained such a fame in just two editions.
Talent often emerges from unexpected places, and many aspiring singers dream of finding a platform that will help them showcase their voices to a wider audience. Singing competitions, especially those at the grassroots level are very important. These competitions not only provide a stage for showcasing raw talent but also offer opportunities for mentoring, exposure, and recognition that can catapult young voices to stardom. This Competition aims at offering Visibility of our community talent.
The Organizing Committee under the leadership of Fr. Agnelo Rodrigues, Fr. Josely Rocha and Mr. Desmond Gomes is all set to invite participants from all Goa Parishes for the 3rd Edition in January 2025.
A Glimpse of the Competition: Birth of New Stars.
The competition is an exciting mix of soulful renditions, foot-tapping rhythms, and heartfelt expressions of Konkani love, faith, and tradition. Participants can take part in the Solo Singing category and the Duet Singing segment. More importantly this platform is an unique one that offers an opportunity for our Catholic community to express and compete and thus becomes a stepping stone.
The Infrastructure provided is the best in class in terms of Musicians, Stage, Lights and Sound. Many of our participants have joined Tiartr platform and also many have joined famous bands as lead singers. Also some of our participants have got a platform alongside top artists in Konkani singing.
St. Sebastian Parish Aquem – A proud Promotor of Konkani Arts.
Through the ‘Kantaram Lharam’ competition our parish has brought new stars on stage and also has promoted Konkani music. Such events create a sense of community and belonging among its members. The parishioners actively participate in the event, providing a supportive environment for the contestants, which helps boost the confidence of the performers.
The role of our Sponsors:
The success of any artistic or cultural initiative is rarely the work of a single individual or group. It requires the collective effort of creative minds, dedicated individuals, and, crucially, the support of sponsors who believe in the project’s vision. Khantara Lharam is no exception.
One of the most direct and impactful roles sponsors play in any creative project is providing the financial backing that enables an impactfull production to move forward. Over the years our sponsors enabled us to deliver high-quality performances, ensuring that the technical and logistical elements were top-notch.
Last year we have seen Firms/Institutions like Auto K Suzuki, Alcon Hyundai, HDFC Bank, Pepsi & Furtado’s were Associates and Principal Sponsors for our event. Firms like Costa’s, Velorian’s by the River, Ulhas Jewellers, Hotel La Flor, Saidul Goldsmith, LIC (India), Too Yumm Foods too supported as sponsors. This event was also partnered by Rajashree Event Management, Malcolm Sound, Beauty Partners Millenium Looks, Security Partner-Wild Security Agency, OLA Home Delights (F&B Partner), Narvekar Pandal. Every moment was captured on video and photos by Jude Vellis Photography.com coming forward in backing this event and we are delighted that most of the above sponsors have agreed to support us this year too. Many of our Parishioners have been major sponsors and actively backed the event thus making it an event by Parishioners.
In any community-based initiative, the financial contributions of parishioners play a critical role in the success and sustainability of projects like Kantaram Lharam. As we continue to develop and expand Kantaram Lharam, we recognize the vital role that our parishioners play in the success of this event.
The Kantaram Lharam organizing committee is reaching out to all parishioners, for your continued financial support to ensure that the 3rd edition of this event not only succeeds but thrives.
