Hidden catechism in the playing cards

Continuation……

The “7”
The number “7” on the

playing card symbolizes that on the seventh day God took rest after creating the world and the climax of the creation was human person. According to the Book of Exodus, the Sabbath is a day of rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2–3), commanded by God to be kept as a holy day of rest, as God rested after creation. The practice of observing the Sabbath (Shabbat) originates in the biblical commandment “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy”. So, on the Sabbath day the Jews don’t work but spend the day in prayer and worship. We, the Catholics consider the Sunday (day of the Lord) as the day to be spent in prayer and worship. Sunday is the Holy day of Obligation. Let’s also not forget that biblically number 7 is the “Perfect Number” or symbolizes ‘Perfection’.

Be A Missionary

The dictionary describes the word ‘Mission’ as sending or Being sent on some service; a calling in life. The important word is SENT. A missionary is one who is sent with a purpose. We know that missionaries go to places where the name of Jesus is not even heard. They go to distant and often challenging places to proclaim Jesus. The choice of the place is not made by the missionary. Rather, he or she is sent by the Power of the Trinity without any fore-knowledge of what he or she will encounter. Their sole confidence is that God will be with them and never abandon them.  Read more

The Start

Aged at 24 Yet need to live more
Encountered so many situations
Plenty of topics for discussions
All of this just takes me to this one topic

Online participation in the Holy Eucharist

The covid 19 has impacted our life in a huge manner. May it be shopping, education, working etc. We all know the changes and are adapting to it every day. Similarly covid also had a great impact on our spiritual life. The Church too relaxed the rules and asked the faithful to attend the online version of the mass so that they are not totally disconnected from the Church. With the introduction of the online mass it has given a lot of benefits to us. Attending mass at Church/ chapel on Sunday and days of obligation is the 3rd commandment. Under the pain of mortal sin we all are bound to attend mass. Now because of the kind of disease, the individual Bishop exercised his power and lifted the burden of sin of not attending Sunday or holy day mass. So, accordingly an exception is made. Pormoll Editorial September 2021

It is inevitable in everyone’s life. Being age related it’s a phase and it can be described as the withdrawal from one’s position, occupation or active working life. Yes, we all have to face retirement in our lives, may be from your employment or profession. The retiring age differs from one country to another, although in India, our official retiring age is 60 for government and public sector undertakings. As one approaches retirement from world life, some would hope to get a few more years whereas some would be happy that their turn has finally arrived. The latter types are generally those who are overburdened or harassed by their higher ups at their place of work. We need to admit that our mental health is bound to deteriorate with age and after putting in a professional life of 40 or more years, a break is always welcome. What more can one hope to achieve?
